Independence Day

Well, here it is July already and this year is half over. We have been spending quite a bit of time with our grandkids this summer. Sammy is great at 5 1/2 yrs and Jesse is coming along good at 15mons. We participated in the little 4th of July kids' parade yesterday. I think the kids enjoyed it and the dog won 3rd place for her costume. Amanda & Sammy decorated the 25yr old Radio Flyer wagon for the kids. It didn't win, but it made the trip without any breakdowns!
Penny had her surgery on her nasal passages a couple weeks ago. And is slowly healing and getting back to herself again. The opened up the passages so she can breath more freely and they took out a bone spur that was causing a lot of pain. So she should be all healed up by the time school starts again. Sammy will be in kindergarten this coming year.
We will be getting another black weeny dog in August. That'll make two. The one we have is lonely since we gave away her companion, the Chaweeny. lol
Well, guess thats about it!

April 09'

Well, it's been a while since I last blogged. I guess I feel like my life isn't really worth reporting on! My wife and I turned another year older already this spring. So we've been together for 28 years now, and doing the deed about 1500 times. Ha! Our daughter is 26, and her daughter is 5, son 1. Both grandkids are amazing! Sammy is so full of life. and Jesse is becoming a fine little boy. He want s to walk so bad, but not quite there. He can crawl really fast and gets into things very quickly.
Amanda and Bobby bought their first newish car this week. Its an 05' Dodge Magnum, yeah, it's got a Hemi! A 5.7L Hemi. I haven't riden in it yet. But it looks impressive, and has all the bells and whistles.
Well, guess thats it for now.

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Well, here we are into February now. I don't think we are going to get any winter here in southern Colorado. We have barely had a skiff of snow all winter. I have yet to use my snow shovel, let alone my snow blower! Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 72 deg.! It has been in the 60's for the highs for several days now anyway. We have another cold front on the way, looking at 50's for the weekend. I guess I really didn't need to buy new tires and tubes for my snowblower, but you just never know what to expect in colorado.

New year-January

Well, here we are almost to the end of January already. Here in S.E. colorado, we have yet to get any significant snow fall. I have been wondering if buying new tires and tubes for my snowblower was really a good idea! I am the only person in my neighborhood that even owns one, and that is only because when my grandpa Peterson died, I inherited his. He lived in the extreme northern part of Iowa, and a snow blower never rests there!
I'm not big on new years resolutions, but once again this year I resolve to exercise more. So, since Jan. 2, I have gotten on the tread mill every morning for 30 mins. I expect to adjust my diet a bit too, but that is way more difficult! That is easier to do when the weather warms up, and we are not stuck in the house so much.
I have had a facebook acct. for some time now, but in the past 2-3 weeks it has really exploded with new friends. I can't believe how many EA alumnus are coming aboard or at least becoming apparent. It's great to come home and catch up on all their updates and new comments. It's great to hook up with them again.
Well, guess that's about it for now.

End of year ramblings

It was brought to my attention that I hadn't blogged since August! So thought I'd write a little here before this year is over. We have had a pretty good year all in all. Our grandson was born in April, and our granddaughter turned 5yrs. in August.
We went to Penny's sister's for Christmas where we spent some time with her family. It will be the last time we all get together for Christmas there. Since many of us are grandparents now, it is a natural progression to be the grandparents and have OUR children and grandchildren come to our house for christmas. So, it was nice to see those that were able to make it there. Tomorrow is the last day of 2008. Looking forward to see what 2009 holds for us!

August 7 blog

Well, it's been over a month since my last blog. I guess it's been a busy summer. We put up our little pool in the back yard so we can take a dip, since the daily high temperatures have been in the 3 digits for several weeks. We made the water level at 2 feet this year so our granddaughter can play in it safely. Last thursday, I came home from work to find her and Penny floating and playing in the pool. I just jogged over and leaped over the side clothes, boots and all. Sammy thought that was hilarious and just kepts screaming, "you have your boots on papa!" She is a blast!
Last weekend we rode our motorcycle to Taos, NM. It was a nice ride. It's 200 miles down there, and roughly 200 miles back. The weekend before that we rode 1oo miles down to Holly, CO. and about 100 miles back. So it seems we always ride half our trip and turn around and come back. LOL! (just amuzing myself with my dry humor) I don't think anyone reads these blogs anyway. If you do, I'd invite you to comment.

Anniversary

Dear blog,
Today is the 27th anniversary of my wedding day. It was a very hot day in Kansas that day. I don't remember too much about that day. I remember that our only vehicle was a 64' Chevy Pickup and the wedding chase was a wild one until we hit a dip and the battery flew out of the battery box! We don't really know where our groomsmen or bridesmaids are anymore. I'm fairly sure that they are still alive. They were an important part of our lives at that time and for a few years following, but alas, people change and sometimes grow apart, but I sure wish it didn't happen that way! Good close friends are so hard to find. I remember that instead of rice the people threw wheat seed and in the following months I had wheat growing in the edges of my floor boards! Our wedding night was spent in a motel in Greensburg, Ks. Last year Greensburg and our wedding night motel was wiped off the map by a tornado, but our marriage has withstood the test of time. There have been countless times that we thought of giving up the relationship. And times when we actually had trial separations. But it seeems we were meant to be together.
Time flies when your having fun. And the older I get the faster it goes! I think it's because we push so hard for the weekend, then it comes and goes and we are back pushing for that next weekend...paycheck to paycheck! Then when the weekend finally gets here we don't do anything anyway, because we don't have friends to hang with. But thats a whole nuther blog. As usual Penny is sick today. So I don't know what we'll end up doing for celebration. Probabaly be "just another day". Wow, this blog started out kind of cheery and now it's more pessimistic, just like me!
until next time.....
love me
